![]() ![]() yesterday, i got the summary of my evaluation. i'm very happy with the evaluation by my students. every semester, i'm excited to see what my students think about me. as always, the following were in my list:mataray, inconsiderate, laging nagpapahiya, unapproachable, always serious, does not give jokes, does not use audio-visual aids, does not accept late assignments and always gives difficult exams. i am not going to justify any wrongdoing that i have done. but i would like to address these issues: mataray- being mataray is my nature. i think as long as it does not affect the way i teach, okay lang. inconsiderate-depende siguro kung ano ang reason why they called me inconsiderate. if i am perceived as inconsiderate just because i follow departmental and university policies, okay lang. pero kung dahil sa di sila napagbigyan sa gusto nila kahit alam nilang mali, ibang usapan na yun! unapproachable- point #1: did you ever try approaching me? baka naman sinabi ng ibang tao na unapproachable ako at yun na rin ang tingin niyo sa akin. point #2: have you ever seen me talk to my students or at least chatting with them? have you seen how comfortable they are with me? o baka naman ikinahon mo na ako based on your impression about me and ayaw mo nang baguhin pa yun. always serious-eh di sana dinala na ako sa hospital! LOLZ! when i discuss, especially those that i know are new to you, i really tend to be serious because i want you to understand what is being taught to you. wala kayong matututunan sa teacher na panay kalokohan lang ang alam. believe me, i've been there! does not give jokes- i beg to disagree! minsan nga lang my jokes are in english and i noticed that everytime my jokes are in english, only few get the punchline. yung iba, ewan ko! does not use audio-visual aids-my dear students, sa Methods of Teaching, the teacher is a audio-visual aid kasi nakikita at naririnig niyo. di ba nagbibigay ako ng handouts? visual aid yun! sample business plans, sample portfolio, lahat yun, visual aid! from time to time, i use the OHP diba? visual aid din yun! baka naman ang alam niyong visual aids eh yung nakalagay sa manila paper! duh! bago pa ako nag elementary, laos na yun! please... does not accept late assignments- well... well... would you not do the same if you were in my shoes? kelan pa naging nega ang maging efficient at consistent? always gives difficult exams- eh anong gusto niyo, yung walang challenge? when you get into the corporate world, you will realize na yung mga binibigay kong challenges sa inyo eh walang kwenta compared to those challenges. think about it ladies and gentlemen... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() ![]() Teaching suddenly became my passion. I love imparting knowledge because in the process, I learn too. I do my very best to give them what they are due. I update my lectures from time to time because I don't want my students to experience what I have experienced when I was a student.Yun bang tipong lecture namin ngayon eh siya ring lecture ng sampung batches ahead of us. Ayoko ng ganun! I give my students challenging tasks because I want to bring out the best in them (believe me, it works!). Gaya na lang nung product presentation last sem... Sinong mag-aakala na yung mga magugulo kong students gaya nina Jacob, Telexis at Deo eh mga uliran at responsableng mga estudyante rin pala? Aside from teaching, business is my other passion. Siguro nga, it runs in the blood. Kasi my ancestors are also merchants (according to my Great Aunt, Lola Luz). It's not just the money that matters in business (personal view lang po). For me, I believe that the relationship I have with my customers and suppliers or even my competitors help me improve as an individual. I get to meet a lot of people from different walks of life and I really learn a lot from them. There are a lot of businesses I would like to engage in. Pero only time will tell kung maitutuloy ko nga ang mga plano ko. Nagsisisi ba ako na nag-Commerce ako? NO WAY!
![]() ![]() ![]() i am clueless as to what your reasons are for taking up a business course. perhaps you want to become a Certified Public Accountant or a Financial Analyst. maybe you are interested in working in the corporate world. or... your parents just forced you into taking up a business course. whatever your reasons for taking up a business course, i hope you'd do your very best to finish the course, get a degree and be your best in the industry. i used to take up BS MedTech. that is because my parents and all the members of my clan wanted me to be a doctor. when i was younger, though, all i wanted was to be in the navy. yeah, in the navy! but they insisted that i go to Med School. back in high school, i took entrance exams in UP, UST, DLSU and ADMU. i passed... there were a lot of courses i had in mind. from theater arts to molecular biology and other courses i wanted were good pre-law courses. but since my parents wouldn't really want me to enroll in those courses, i ended up taking BSMT. however, because of my allergies, i had to shift to another course. a course that doesn't have any lab subjects. then my parents wanted me to take BSAcc. i gave in knowing that there's so much money involved! hehehe! but then again, i had to choose another course. not that i was too dumb for such course but because i had this trouble with my accounting teacher and i knew that he would be my teacher in my major subjects. i'm pretty sure, he's going to give me a darn hard time. so i settled taking two majors in BSC. i did my best to be a good student and eventually got a degree. after that, i immediately took my masters and now i have my MBA. i never stopped studying coz immediately after graduating my masters degree, i enrolled in my post-grad studies.
![]() ![]() The Philippines won one gold and a silver in four finals Thursday at the start of the judo competition of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games before a fullhouse crowd at the Mandaue Sports Complex here. Helen Dawa, one of the three gold medalists in the 2003 Vietnam SEAG, needed two extensions to win over Muenjit Wanwisa of Thailand in the 45kgs and below for the host team's lone gold. "At least I won the match here in our country. Unlike in Vietnam when I won they played the wrong anthem to my disappointment," said the 25-year-old Dawa as she recalled the incident during the awarding ceremonies two years ago. The Baguio City native Dawa, a draftee of the Philippine Coast Guard, fought bravely all throughout the 10-minute match to eke out the victory. from Manila Times Helen, as I remember, was one of my students in BFINAN1, among other subjects, when I was just starting. She's one of those shy students who preferred to be in just one corner. She wasn't really an A-student but I knew she was trying her very best. From time to time, she would ask permission that she won't be able to attend my class for 3 meetings or so because she had to go somewhere to represent the school for a competition. Sometimes, perhaps because of lack of time, she just goes AWOL. Of course, at times, I would really get angry. But who could afford to stay angry when you learn that she brought home the bacon?? (as in numerous gold medals!) While reading the news over the net (as i always do...), I saw her name in one of the articles and so I immediately clicked on it and read the details. Whew! There was that certain feeling of pride that struck me! And all I could say was: "Estudyante ko yan!". I couldn't even remember how many times I said that. Wow! I am sure that all the other UBians are so darn proud of and happy for Helen. To Helen, congratulations! I am so proud of you!
